- TESTIMONIALS
Marcia Miller
I give this
statement with the utmost respect and admiration for Anita Coleman
and S. “Scorpio” Vance of Scorpion Athletics. I was blessed with
the opportunity to meet Ms. Coleman in 2001. At the time, I was in
search of an individual who would assist me with my personal fitness
goals. Prior to meeting Ms. Coleman, numerous personal trainers who
were offering their services for hire approached me. After
conversing with some of them, I was still not comfortable with
signing a contract for their services. The information they gave me
was very generic and appeared to be rehearsed. When I finally met
Ms. Coleman, I instantly knew that she was the person I needed to
work with. The fact that she cared was so obvious. Her knowledge
and ambition exceeded my expectations of her. Her dedication and
passion for fitness and health really stood out. She took her time
and spoke with me prior to setting up our first workout session.
She made sure to do a proper assessment of my health, and me as well
as made me aware of her credentials/ certifications. She also made
sure she knew my personal goals and challenges; based on what she
knew, she generated a personal plan just for me. I was so impressed
and pleased with her. I felt very comfortable working with Ms.
Coleman. I trusted her advice; and by doing so, not only did I
reach my personal goal, I learned so much about fitness and health.
Ms. Coleman has such a strong knowledge base in all that she becomes
involved in. While she assures to assess everyone individually,
because we are all different, she is consistent in what she relays
to everyone regarding fitness and health.

I have also known
S. “Scorpio” Vance for as long as I have known Ms. Coleman. I have
conversed with him regarding fitness and health, as well as had the
opportunity to workout with him. He and Ms. Coleman are two very
professional people. They work very well together. The both of
them exemplify what it is to be dedicated, strong, knowledgeable,
and passionate about the nature of their business. They both appear
to have much integrity and demonstrate a good work ethic. They are
both wonderful as individuals, but they are powerful as a team. I
wish the two of them much success in their business endeavors.
Sincerely,
Marcia Miller

The decision to
change your life is daunting; scary even. If you are anything like
me…it is not something you are easily motivated to do.
Nevertheless, change is necessary for the evolution of your person
and for the development of your spirit. Therefore, I guess you
could say that I reached a point in my life where I was ready to
Evolve. I was ready to become the best me I could be.
I had to change my
lifestyle. It was not healthy. I was overweight, had high
cholesterol, and was constantly fatigues. I tried working out on my
own, but I didn’t have any real health or fitness knowledge…thus no
results. Yeah; we have all been told, “just watch what you’re
eating and workout several times a week”. But I took that to mean,
“watch the food as it crosses your lips and take the stairs at the
job”. I did not really apply myself and make a serious effort at
defeating the “biggon” gene that I inherited from my family.
I needed solid
information on managing my nutrition I could workout, but what I
needed to know was, “how should I workout’? What physical activity
would suit my lifestyle, my personal goals, and me? For years, I
had a lack of physical activity and my nutritional education was
poor to say the least. I was lost; but not for long. Change was
all around me. The first change was all in my MIND. I was now
determined to finally take my health and my life seriously.

Then a chance
encounter (if there is such a thing) with Anita Coleman and S.
“Scorpio” Vance of SCORPION ATHLETICS started me on the path of
evolution. From our first encounter, they motivated me. Their
energy and enthusiasm for health and fitness was contagious. My
first meeting with Anita and Scorpio let me know I found a team that
was passionate about what they were doing, and that they had a
wealth of knowledge to share with me. They wanted to empower me and
took on the challenge of helping me meet my own personal health and
fitness goals. They were glad to teach me how to eat, and they
structured a workout regiment that helped me become everything I had
envisioned for myself.
It has taken time
and patience…Anita and Scorpio put in hard work right along with
me…They had to re-educate me, motivate me, hold me accountable, and
praise me. But I have needed each roll that they have played in my
life. From SCROPION ATHLETICS I have been introduced to a variety
of programs designed to help me meet my health and fitness goals and
I have CHANGED.
They have changed
my life. I have evolved and willingly even. I am in control of my
future now…In control of my health and I am my best “me”. Mind,
BODY and Spirit – Thanks to SCORPION ATHLETICS.
Evolution is a
process…A continual process that allows one to move through change
to the fulfillment of milestones.

The Evolving
Anita and Jena
I am writing this
letter on behalf of Anita Coleman. I have been a client of Anita’s
since August 2002. I clearly remember admiring her strong health
body. I asked her if she would train me and help me get into
shape. I mentioned that I had been trying to loose weight for
months but I had reached a plateau. Anita asked me several
questions: what is your goal, how much water do you drink per day,
what are your eating habits like, how much cardio do you do per
week, and do you lift weights? I was embarrassed to answer most of
her questions. I actually believed that if I work hard, I could
reward myself with wonderful snacks like pizza, chocolate, cookies,
or chips. Anita informed me that she had several clients she was
working with and was not sure if there was any room for me in her
schedule at that time. I begged her to take me on as a client and I
assured her that I would be a good student. She took me on as her
client with conditions. Her conditions were that I had to be
present and on time for my sessions, workout to my fullest
potential, change my eating habits as a way of life, stay focused,
and I could not quit. I accepted and agreed.
After my
consultation with Anita, I knew I was ready. I realize that in
order to loose weight and keep it off, I had to approach my body
with discipline and honor. This consisted of healthy eating habits
and establishing a workout regimen that included strength training
and cardio.
My starting weight
was 168 lbs. My goal weight was 150 lbs. Anita motivated me to
work to my fullest potential. There were days when I felt like
giving up. She would say, “Jena, the body will do what you tell it
to do?” I found this statement to be true. “Tiring and exhausting,
but true.” At this point, I had a true understanding of weight lost
and healthy eating – there was no turning back. After the first
month, I noticed small changes in my body. My body became leaner
and stronger. I had more stamina and endurance. I learned to
listen to my body my esteem grew stronger and I worked out harder
and longer. I looked forward to the monthly results.
Anita introduced
me to spinning. Spinning is a high intense cardiovascular exercise
where you are climbing, sprinting, and running on a stationary
bike. After my first ride, I promised I would never ride again.
One year later, I had surpassed my weight loss expectations and I
became a licensed spinning instructor with Madd Dog Athletics.
After one year of
intense discipline, my trainer helped me loose 25 lbs and several
inches all over my body. I developed natural healthy eating
habits. Anita is not just a great instructor and trainer, but she
is my friend and a good person. She is clear and passionate about
her calling. She is dedicated and strong-willed. I love her, honor
her, and respect her. She never quits.

I am writing to
provide information about the services I have received from Scorpion
Athletics over the past 3 years. I have been in personal training
with S. “Scorpio” Vance twice weekly over this period. Scorpio’s
responses to my physical fitness needs have far exceeded by
expectations on every criteria. He is thoroughly professional,
extremely well educated, dedicated to on-going professional
development and learning, and intentional in his planning and
encouragement for me to take the necessary steps outside of our
training sessions to promote my health and well-being. A little
over 3 years ago, I (a 63-year-old woman) was diagnosed with
diabetes. When I began training with Scorpio, I brought an early
history of athleticism but very little systematic exercise over many
many years. I had also worked previously with two other trainers
whose work with me was of an entirely different caliber.
In contrast,
Scorpio was attentive, systematic, and treated me like a person who
could understand and benefit by knowing the reasons for what he was
asking me to do. I have lost weight and become so much stronger and
healthier that I have been able to approach my work as a professor
with more optimism and energy, interact with my grandchildren in a
physical way that small children demand, and generally feel a sense
of well-being that I never imagined possible at my age. In addition
to his deep fund of knowledge and experience, Scorpio is a warm,
interesting and caring person; someone who remembers what happens in
each session and tried to build not only my physical capacities but
also my positive attitude and commitment to a well-rounded health
lifestyle. When I have found it more difficult during particular
periods of time to follow through on my regimen outside of training,
he continued to be encouraging, respectful, and helpful in reminding
me of the relationships among these various aspects of my program.
From my perspective, he is a highly intelligent and responsible
person whose work in the world makes a difference for people of all
ages and backgrounds. His commitment to this kind of life work is
evident in his persistence in building Scorpion Athletics over time.
In short, I am so
impressed with Scorpion Athletics I recommended their work to anyone
I meet who needs or wants this kind of extraordinary teaching and
learning in their lives. In three years, I have never had a moment
of discomfort or regret about this choice; this is remarkable for
someone who for so many years had taken little time to address my
own issues. I attribute this entirely to the vision and
qualifications of Scorpio (and Anita) and would like to support
their growth as an organization in any way I can.
